How does my hair seem dry but oily too?

I think it's from straightening my hair, that it is dry. It used to be very shiny, but now it's getting dull, and its always oily because im a teenager. any tips on getting rid of dullness? baby powder as a quick oil reducer doesnt work because myhair is dark.

Use olive oil. It really moisturizes your hair. To prevent oiliness, use a clear shampoo. Be sure to condition your hair, but only on the bottoms, where it is usually dry. If the conditioner is on your scalp, it will clog the pores and slow down your hair growth. My hair is dark brown since I'm asian, and I have a lot of healthy hair tricks. But I don't do any torturing things to my hair like straighten or dye or anything like that. Even though my hair is naturally straight already. Be sure to eat healthy and keep a healthy diet for healthy hair. Vitamins A, B, C, and E are very important to the hair, as well as protein and amino acids, since the hair is made of that. One fourth of a strand of hair is made of water, so I would suggest you drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily. It will restore your hair's needed moisture, and make it your shining glory.

Good luck!!

when using conditioner you don't need it on the root area. this is where your natural oils are. condition from mid length down. when straightening your hair it needs protection from so much heat. use some silicone drops ( no more than 3 drops in palms ; rub together like lotion and pat on hair mid length - ends- towards top but NOT root area then lotion again and finger comb thru) first. when the flat iron smokes it's heating the silicone and not necessarily your hair.
