I have a few good tips because my hair is very dry. These will also work for a young girl since you don't want to damage her hair.

1.) Once a week, rub olive oil into her scalp and all over her hair. Wrap it in a bandanna, put a towel over her pillow, and let her sleep with it on. In the morning, leave the bandanna on, and point a blow dryer at her head for a few minutes. After her hair gets warm, take off the bandana, and massage her scalp. After that, Shampoo twice and use a good conditioner. This works GREAT, and it also gets hair to grow a little bit.

2.) At the drug store, go to the "Afro-Centric" section, and grab some hair cholestoral. Do the same thing, except blowdry before she goes to sleep. Those directions won't be on the packaging, but I'm speaking from experience here.

3.) Only shampoo her hair every other time she showers, or only 3 or less times a week. And condition every time.

4.) After she showers, take hair conditioner (actual conditioner-not the leave-in kind), put some in your hand, and style her hair as if you were using hair gel. Use a generous amount. Then just let her go about her day normally. This tip is the most valuable tip by far.

n mayb yu should apply oil... its yucky buh apply it b4 going to bed n wash it int he morning like once a week it alwaizz workss

Kheils has a great mositurizer and Photospecific has great conditioners.

Both are pricey, but I use them and I have (had) VERY brittle, damaged hair.

I love Dove intense moisture products! Also get some leave in conditioner that she can put towards her roots!

What you can use is Dove intense damage. It makes your hair shnny and not dry. Also a good thing about it is that it doesn't make your greasy...like herbal essense or other products.

A generous oil application and massage is recommended before washing the hair. Frequent shampooing is harmful for dry hair. Sometimes lack of nutrients can also cause dry brittle hair.
