My wet hair seems to be fine but when the water has evaporated it leaves hair in a horribly dry mess

when I have a shower and shampoo the hair so long as the hair remains wet it seems soft and very manageable but after maybe 2-3 hours when all the water has evaporated my hair becomes horribly dry, rough, messy and unmanageable. Why does this happen and whats the solution

Your shampoo could be to blame. Check and see if it contains any form of alcohol or glycerin. Alcohol makes it try, and glycerin leaves waxy buildup on the hair, making it less manageable. Also, you could try using a smoothing serum while your hair is still wet and use your blow dryer on the lowest setting until you hair is almost dry but not all the way. I suggest using a smoothing serum by Biosilk. Their products are great for dry hair, pretty cheap, and you can find them at most salons, i.e. JCPenny salon.

I would recommend a good leave in conditioner after you get out of the shower. I like the one by Herbal Essence.

your hair is damaged from heat or coloring you need to go to the salon and get a deep conditioning for your hair then ask them what they recommend to wash your hair with

when its wet try adding a leave in conditioner then let it dry still use conditioner after shampooing if that doesnt work too good ( which it will) use some hair wax just in the endz

I would suggest Phomollient. It is a styling foam with organic honey. It is by Aveda, and works great for me, as my hair is the same. It makes your hair much more soft and easy to comb through. Use it right after you shower, when your hair is damp but not soaked. Comb right after use. This is great for girls and guys! Enjoy!

Your hair is dry damaged.

Classic symptoms! In fact, it shouldn't take 2-3hours for your hair to air dry after a shower. Sick hair will retain the moister of the water like a drowning man to a 2X4.

So how do we fix this problem?

KMS California, my favorite brand!! It's got IOPS technology (Inside Out Perfecting System) and they have an entire line dedicated to dry damaged hair.

Wash your hair with a moisture rich shampoo, conditioner and/or 60 second hair mask. Add Moisture, Flat Out, or Silk Sheen would all be perfectly reasonable lines.

If your hair is coarse by nature, Flat Out or Silk Sheen would be your best bet. Silk Sheen has silk in it for added shine... obviously cosmetic, but, if you're feeling it, who am I to judge.

Now post shower, spray in a leave in conditioner, or a leave in conditioning balm. Follow with a light blow dry lotion, like the one in the flat out line. This will protect your hair from obtaining more damage when you blow dry.

Refrain from blowdrying on high heat. Use a warm or cool setting. A natural bristle brush, no plastic brushes, they are too hard, and no combs!

When finished, spray on a light misting of a UV protecter (hair is suseptible to UV rays as well!) ColourVitality has one. Brush it through and you're good to go.

You can also invest in an overnight mask to give your hair added oomph.

Hair needs moisture, the right techniques and the right products and you'll be fine.

its is normal...after having a shower and then the hair dries...its depends on

the weather....according to personal experience...hair can adapt to the weather and certian shampoos. so first u need to know what type of hair u have..whether is usually dry, or silky or whatever!! heh heh...and then find the correct shampoo ...try conditioning ur hair as well...get a conditioner that duzn smell good...coz they have lots of chemicals that can kill the texture of ur hair....but dont worry too much...coz if u d not dry ur hair immediately after u shower...u will definitely start getting grey hairs at an early stage of life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so best to dry ur hair with a good towel..dont use hair dryers..they are harmful..unless u have lots of hair....and then after it dries...use some good ( be sure about this ok) hair gel...to keep it set and looking good.

hope htis helps.....

gud luck!;)

maybe you are washing your hair too much, try only washing it 2 times a week and then only wash the part thats close to your scalp, the water will run the shampoo threw the rest of it as you rinse, also i use baby oil in my hair every once and a while to make it shine and no more frizz. just use a few drops though while your hair is still wet and run it threw all of it. some people like really hot showers but the hotter you shower the more dried out your hair is going to get. if you shower every day, just use conditioner on the days you dont use the shampoo it will help it be more managable and less dry.
