well try hair spray like olive oil its a great moisturizer and it doesnt weight down your hair. After you wash hair condition it for 15 to 30 minutes. A very good product line is Biolage. You can find biolage in hair salons like the hair cuttery. Also they say mayonaise is a good conditioner too! Yeah sounds gross but whatever works so you dont have dry hair.

dont wash it every day, wash it only every 3 days and in between use a little baby oil to give it shine and moisture.

Yoghurt is a good moisturizer. After shampooing, apply yoghurt in your hair and keep it on for 5 mins. Wash off; you'll be amazed to see how smooth and silky it looks. It also keeps the moisture so your hair dont get so dry. You can otherwise of course use a conditioner like Garnier or Ultra Doux for dry hair. also, oil your hair before you sleep at night and wash it off next morning.

Try VO5 Conditioning Hairdressing. You can find it at Walmart. It saved my hair just after I had it permed. I've used it for a long time but, when I came home from the perm and felt my hair basically frying, I completely slathered it with the VO5. I left it on for 2 solid days and it truly saved my hair.
To make the VO5 work you have to completely cover your hair from root to tip and leave it on for a day or so.

I have an analogy for you...if you have 2 prunes and take 1 and put it in a glass of oil (anykind you want....baby oil, olive oil, VO-5, whatever) and take the other one and put it in a glass of water, the prune in the water will plump up and hydrate...the one in oil will stay wilted looking and oily.
As far as hair goes (skin as well!) it needs MOISTURE. Oil is not necessarily moisture. It can put on a barrier to help hold in moisture and aids in lubrication.
You need to use a shampoo for dry hair, and don't shampoo everyday. Only a few times a week. If you feel the need to "wash" your hair everyday, then every other day only rinse through your hair, don't shampoo it. This will give the natural oils a chance to do some good. Then the next thing you need is a MOISTURIZING TREATMENT. Paul Mitchell makes one that I LOVE, and I've seen it do miracles on clients hair...it's called Super Charged Moisturizer. There is also a Moisturizing Shampoo that works in conjunction with it. Also, Nioxin has some new products that are for more normal to course hair that is dry. They have extra moisture, plus they also have a Moisturizing Hair Masque that is awesome. The thing people need to know is everything has a molecular weight. In order for things to be able to absorb INTO the hair it has to be broken down small enough (molecular wise). I'm sorry, but oils, mayonaisse, VO-5, avocado etc, etc, are not able to penetrate to the inside of the hair to do the good they need to do. Sure these items can lubricate the outside of the hair strand, and that alone can make it feel softer, but you really are not affecting the moisture level of the hair. It's just a temporary fix. If you use a regular Moisturizing TREATMENT, you are actually affecting the inside of your hair and it is doing some good for it!
A reputable salon would be able to direct you to a good line. There are many professional product lines that are very similar to one another. YOu almost can't go wrong. I'd stay away from over-the-counter stuff. It is so full of fillers, you might as well spend a little bit more and get something you know will work. That is one thing I've noticed with all the lines I've worked with over the years, the Paul Mitchell products are very reasonably priced. Just make sure you get it from a salon and not a discount store. You'll actually pay more for it there than you would at a salon!
