you should always put dye on dry =, unwashed hair, just brush out any products you may have in it. They say it takes better as dry hair is more porous.

I had to dye my hair recently and i had to do it twice because it didn't turn out properly the first time.

The first time my hair was wet and it didn't cling to my hair properly and it didn't come out as rich as i wanted and i also missed quite a bit because i couldn't tell if i had got it because it was already wet.

the second time my hair was dry and it turned out much, much better cause it could cling to my hair better and i could see where i had and hadn't got because i would just look for the dry bits of hair. plus i was able to pile my hair on the top of my head while waiting because it wasn't drippy from excess water.

you have to keep it dry and dirty most importanty. if your hair is sleek and clean there will be nothing for the hair to soak on to, you usyally are supposed to not wash your hair for a week.. 3 days if you cant stand it,.. the colour will come on nicer

Basically if you put the dye on wet hair then you are watering down the tint so it the permanency is affeted. This may be what you want so if so then do it.
