My hair is naturally curly, but I straighten it about once a week and I leave it that way for a couple days without washing it. Lately, it has been so dry: after I wash and condition it, after I straghten it, even when I wear it curly. I tried deep conditioning treatments, and it didn't help. I also tried to color my hair about 2 weeks ago (well, touch up my roots), but the color didn't take to my hair! What's wrong with it???? It feels so gross!
Why is my hair so dry?!?!?
ok.... everyone is right- heat and coloring damages your hair... but its not hopeless....What I recommend you do is trim about 1/8 of an inch off your hair every two months.... and continue to deep condition your hair (it may not seem like its working right now but it will) Trimming your hair regularly will help your hair grow faster which causes your natural hair oils to produce faster and will saturate your hair which causes shine and manageability.... also taking some hair and nail vitamins will help with reconstructing the damage from the inside out...
Good Luck!
Why is my hair so dry?!?!?
maybe it is the straightening. excessive heat can damage your hair. Maybe you need to use better hair products
Why is my hair so dry?!?!?
try sleeping in the deep conditioning treatment... or a protein pack my hair is the same way and that helps me

damage damage damage. your ruining your hair with color and heat. I did that will my hair and i had to get it all cut off. your hair is dry because its so damage and color and heat drys out your hair. get your hair cut and leave it alone for awhile thats what I did and my hair is back to normal soft and shiny
Why is my hair so dry?!?!?
its really damaged from straightening it and trying to damage it. my friend with super curly hair always straightened it (and did what you did by just leaving it) and her hairdresser made her stop for a few months. you should deep condition 2-3 times a week use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner like dove and leave it curly and don't dye it.
Why is my hair so dry?!?!?
Well if you straighten, blow dry and sometimes curl your hair it makes it dry because your basically cooking your hair. It alson could be you wash it too much. That washes all the oil that your hair needs if you wash it every day. Find some good leave in conditoiners or get some biosilk.
Why is my hair so dry?!?!?
curly haired people have naturally dry hair. maybe wash your hair less. you can just use the new line from aussie, trust me it works.
Why is my hair so dry?!?!?
Stop straightening it, and don't color it. I would recommend going to a hair dresser and getting it stripped back to its natural color.
Here's what you do:
1. Wash hair and condition.
2. DO NOT rinse out conditioner.
3. Put a plastic sack (such as a Walmart sack) on your hair and tie it to where there is no air between the sack and your hair.
4. Yes. It will feel gross. Get over it.
5. Sit like that for 20-30 minutes.
6. Rinse out conditioner, let it HANG DRY. DO NOT blowdry it.
7. Do this about 2-3 times a week, you will be as good as new in about a month.
The reason why the color didn't take to your hair is because it physically couldn't, due to all the damage. If you color your hair twice in a 2 month period, you are extremely likely to damage it significantly.
Make an appointment with your stylist. You need it.

Dry hair don't worry I got a few tips on how to keep you hair beatiful soft and shiny
By using very mild shampoos and good quality conditioners.
By having them trimmed regularly.
By going in for once-weekly hot oil treatment. Use warm olive or almond oil and massage it carefully into the scalp and hair.
Leave the oil on overnight, if possible, by covering the hair with a plastic bath cap and a toweling turban. Wash the oil off the next day by applying diluted shampoo directly to the scalp before applying water.
Mayonnaise Conditioner
To recondition the hair, shampoo hair with homemade shampoo or a shampoo from the natural foods store. Rinse and towel dry. Apply regular mayonnaise (not salad dressing) to the hair. Massage in. Let sit for 10-15 minutes, shampoo again lightly and rinse with an apple cider vinegar and water solution.
Also try this for spilt ends
Split End Treatments:
Mix 1 tsp honey with 2 Tbsp olive oil, then beat in 1 egg yolk. Massage on hair in small sections. Wrap head with shower cap for 30 minutes. Rinse and shampoo.
Massage hair and scalp with warm avocado or olive oil. Wrap hair securely in a towel. Leave oil on hair about 8 hours or overnight. If left on overnight, put a shower cap over head to avoid staining pillows and bedding. Wash hair, then rinse with a vinegar /water solution.
Hot Oil Treatment
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup boiling water
Place olive oil and boiling water into large glass bottle or jar with a lid. You may need to wrap a towel around the bottle to avoid burning yourself. Shake very well until oil is emulsified. Massage into hair, taking care not to burn your head. Put a shower cap or plastic bag over your hair and wrap your head in a hot towel that has been soaked in hot water then wrung out. Leave mixture on your hair for 1/2 hour, then shampoo as usual.
Try this some tips for healthy hair
Choose brushes and combs with widely spaced and smooth tipped bristles and teeth to avoid the risk of splitting hairs and scratching the scalp.
Wash combs and brushes in shampoo or soap at least once a week.
Always rinse your hair thoroughly.
Use a conditioner to smooth the outer surface of the hair, which is roughened by washing.
Apply extra conditioner when using a hairdryer, rollers, or tongs.
Always try a temporary rinse first, before you risk using permanent color.
Go to a professional colorist for permanent dyeing or bleaching

It sounds like your hair is getting back at you for all that abuse. You didn't give your age or how long you have been coloring and straightening your hair. Hair follicles can take only so much abuse. The next step is for it to start to fall out. (not alot, but it can) The only way to fix it is to stop everything, but the washing. Wash only every other day, use a gentle shampoo and conditioner and NOTHING else ~ no curling iron, no dryer, nothing. It may take a while, but in the end it will help your hair get back to normal.
Why is my hair so dry?!?!?
u can get this stuff that u put in your hair like 5 minutes before u straighten it and u don't have to wet ur hair or anything u just spray it in let it dry and straighten ur hair
Why is my hair so dry?!?!?
It sounds as though your hair has been over processed. Do you straighten your hair when it's wet or damp? Has the weather been hot where you live? Do you swim in public pools? The heat and chlorine will add to any damage you have done to your hair. For a cheap but very effective solution, olive oil works wonders. Work some through your hair. Wrap your head (not your face!) in a plastic bag and then an old towel to hold in the heat. Leave in for an hour or two. I've done this before and left it overnight. You may need to do this more than once to get some life back into your hair but it does work.
Why is my hair so dry?!?!?
It could be many things. Hair products these days can easily destroy your hair if you use them to much. It can also be from the weather.
Why is my hair so dry?!?!?
that happened to me and it was because you straighten it so much the only way you can fix the problem is cut the dry parts and i would not straighten it so much any more or if you still want to straighten it still you can buy this cream that protects your hair from the heat i have some of that stuff and it works really well you should try Tressamay heat it really works
Why is my hair so dry?!?!?
Most likely it is that you are not using the right conditioner for it.. Treat your hair with olive oil it will also help out. Leave it on for a while then wash your hair as you do normally. And let me ask you something, when you straighten your hair do you use a special cream so your ends won't get dried? Because when you use alot of heat on your hair it tends to dry up alot. Also make sure that when you color your hair you trim it after you have colored it. This will get rid of the dry ends. The chemicals in colors will burn your ends. So that's why you have to do it. Take care and hope this works for you. If your hair didn't come out the color you wanted most likely it has to do with the color you had before that.
